Which University Do I Qualify for in Ghana With My WASSCE Results?
Find out how to shortlist Ghanaian universities using your WASSCE grades, required subjects and qualification level, with practical admission examples.
Start with your subjects, then compare universities
Your WASSCE grades can help you shortlist universities, but a useful answer needs more than your overall aggregate. Start with your preferred subject area, the qualification you want and the core and elective subjects you actually studied. Then compare that profile with each institution’s published requirements.
For example, UCC’s 2026/2027 regular first-degree notice specifies six credit passes and a WASSCE aggregate of 36 or better. Individual programmes add further conditions. This is a starting point for checking an application, rather than a list of courses automatically open to every applicant. Read UCC’s official notice.
Build a shortlist in four steps
- Write down your complete results. Include all core subjects and electives, even a grade you would prefer to leave out.
- Choose your qualification. Degree, Diploma and Certificate routes can have different conditions at the same university.
- Read the programme requirements. Identify compulsory subjects, required grades, assessment methods and any special entry conditions.
- Compare realistic applications. Keep a small shortlist that meets both academic requirements and your budget, location and study-mode needs.
A simple comparison sheet should have columns for institution, programme, qualification, compulsory subjects, aggregate rule, fees and the official source. Mark an unanswered question as “confirm” instead of assuming you qualify.
Worked examples: similar aggregates, different choices
Example A: an applicant has credits in the required core subjects and three relevant electives. The next check is the specific programme’s conditions and competitive selection requirements.
Example B: another applicant has an equally good total but D7 in a compulsory core subject. Strong electives do not replace a required credit. That applicant should investigate a suitable Diploma route or a targeted resit.
Example C: a student has strong grades but lacks an elective specifically required for the preferred course. The useful next step is to identify programmes aligned with the subjects studied or ask admissions about an approved alternative route.
Check My Entry Requirements — GH₵25
Use UniAdmission Checker to organise your next step
Select a supported university and qualification, then enter your grades in UniAdmission Checker. The GH₵25 assessment shows a general requirements-match score and a breakdown of the checks performed. Read the breakdown alongside the institution’s programme page.
The score is the percentage of listed checks met. It does not predict an admission decision or automatically search every available course. A full match still leaves programme-specific elective relevance and other selection conditions to confirm.
Before you buy an application form
Confirm that the correct intake, programme and study mode are available. Check the total cost of tuition, accommodation and travel as well as the application fee. Keep a copy of the official requirements you relied on and use your own accessible email and telephone number in the application.
Once your shortlist is ready, browse university application forms on SellePins. Apply with accurate details and keep your application reference, receipt and submitted form together.
