Compare the exact Diploma route

Diploma admission requirements vary by institution and programme. The word “Diploma” may refer to a university Diploma, a Higher National Diploma, a professional award or a postgraduate qualification. Begin with the full course title and the entry route for WASSCE holders.

The comparison below covers selected published university routes reviewed on 4 November 2026. It helps identify where to investigate further. Confirm the current intake and course-specific subjects before applying.

UEW DiplomaThree core passes through D7 and three relevant elective credits.UEW

A practical way to compare your grades

Take a student with English D7, Core Mathematics C6, Social Studies C5 and three relevant elective credits. A Diploma rule allowing D7 in required core subjects may be worth investigating. A rule demanding C6 in English would produce a different conclusion for the same student.

Now change one required elective to E8. The earlier conclusion may no longer hold. Check every subject condition again rather than assuming that a Diploma accepts any result below the Degree threshold.

Create a checklist with separate rows for English, Mathematics, the third core where required, electives and any interview or assessment. Tick each item only after matching it to an official statement.

Check duration, mode and progression

Ask whether the programme is regular, evening, weekend or distance learning. These choices affect travel, attendance, accommodation and your ability to work. Compare the complete fees and study commitment rather than deciding from the application price alone.

If your goal is a later Degree, ask the receiving institution about progression. Which Diploma is accepted? What minimum classification or GPA is needed? At what level might you enter? Written programme guidance is more useful than a general claim that every Diploma automatically becomes a Degree.

Choose the application after checking eligibility

Use the available Diploma option in UniAdmission Checker to review the supported general grade checks. Read the named programme’s requirements before purchasing a form.

You can then review UEW forms, UPSA forms, GCTU forms or the full application-form catalogue. Confirm that the product option covers the qualification and intake you intend to apply for.
